Jewellery storage - 7 things

I may be just a little obsessed with jewellery storage - I wonder why?!

There are so many fabulous creative ideas out there, beautiful decorative creations, works of art and simply gorgeous home decor ideas.

What is your favorite way of storing your jewellery?

Not in a heap on your dresser I hope!?

Are you a traditional jewellery box type of person?
Like this beautiful box crafted by vermontwoodnart using the most beautiful woods - it's truly an heirloom piece.

I'm quite liking the idea of this re-purposed medicine cabinet - it will hold a lot of jewellery and more besides and then you can close the door and everything is neatly out of sight.
Check out NanandPopsAttic for more styles of jewellery organisers.

I may have said this before but I have a few of these old printers drawers - I use mine for displaying my goods at markets, but look what BlackForestCottage has done!
Soooo much fabulous storage! And so well thought out.
You can really make a wonderful display on your wall with this one.

Another wall display - this one is somewhat more rustic, but it does have a built-in light and they go the whole re-purposed road with hooks make from old forks and railroad nails.
Certainly would be a talking point!

I have to include a ceramic option.
If you don't have a lot of necklaces and bracelets this is just perfect for your rings and you could pop a few pairs of earrings in the tray.
I love the crackle glaze in the bottom.

This little number is a bit similar to my own earrings holder - but this has got extra assets!
It has knobs on the side for your necklaces and little hollows in the bottom for other bits and pieces - plus it rotates! What more could you ask for?

This one is very stylish - and it holds 52 pairs of earrings!
You can also hang your necklaces and bracelets - and it has a shelf.

So much choice!
Which one would you chose?

Nearing the end - to blog or not to blog - blogtoberfest day 29

Well the end of blogtoberfest is in sight - 2 more posts after this, and for better or worse I've stayed the course.

Mostly it has been fine - and lots of fun - and I'm found some great blogs and today I even met (really!) a blogger I first "met" through blogtoberfest! How cool is that?!

It wasn't planned - it wasn't a date or anything, we just both happened to have a stall at the Museum of Fire Doll, Bear and Craft Fair.

But, I digress...I must admit that the last couple of days it's been a struggle to blog. I've been so busy getting ready for the aforementioned fair and yesterday was a pretty lame attempt - I blogged my lunch (!)

And it led me to wonder is it better to have blogged and lost than to never blog at all?!
Or is it better to blog only about worthy, meaningful things and if you don't have anything to say then just "shut up!"?

And with that I will take my own advice and disappear.....

More craft market set-up - blogtoberfest day 9

I'm still thinking about easy and weather-proof market set-up.
Today's weather was a bit windy - those gusty sort of winds that take you by surprise.
You need to be prepared with gazebo weighted down and your display secure.

If you use table coverings they need to be un-flappable!
I used to tie my cloths to the table legs but now my lovely daughter has made me fitted table cloths. I still put cream velvet over the top as I think this shows off the beads better and I use tablecloth clamps to stop it blowing over my stock.

I have a huge bags - one of those IKEA bags - with all sorts of ropes, pegs, clamps, a hammer etc in.
Maybe I'll show you it's contents one of these days!

As I mentioned yesterday, I favour display props that won't blow over.
A while ago I got these perspex jewellery stands which work well for me.

I have them in two sizes and they stack for transporting.
I have quite a variety of necklace displays stands.

These black ones are good for certain colours or silver jewellery and they unclip and you can pack them flat.

Other items I like to have aready displayed so that I can just lay the board out when I get to the market.
These are calico-covered cut-up polystyrene boxes.
I pin my brooches to them, also stops them blowing away.

Aesthetically, it's probably not the best but it is very practical and customers can clearly see your wares.

Do you have any favorite display props that you have either bought or have made?

How to spend a rainy afternoon

stamping, cutting, punching and swapping brooches onto some new display cards -

What do you think?

How do you while away a wet afternoon?

To market, to market -

Another one of my irregular posts about markets.

It's a bit of a quiet time market-wise at this time of year.
A perfect time to do some planning for the coming spring festival season.

So what do you do with your 'down time'?

Apart from ordering more supplies and building your stock up?
Well every year I tell myself I'm going to do that - but.....well maybe I will this year!

Maybe your stall needs a revamp?
I know mine does!

These things are on my to-do list

- get some new table cloths
- get a new display for earrings
- make my display more on eye level

I've been looking at what other people do with tables cloths.
My friend Chris recommends that crinkly velvet stuff, because it doesnt need ironing.

I like to use a pale neutral colour to display my jewellery on, as the glass beads show up well against a light background. However a light colour is more likely to show the dirt (and coffee, icecream, hot dog stains! - you name it, it's been spilled on my stall!)
so a fabric which washes easily.

Here is some inspiraton from flickr groups Arts & Cratfs Fairs & Shows and Show Me your Booths

I just love this earring display by AdornedbyRobin!

Do you have any suggestions?
What do you use to cover your tables?
What do you think looks nice?
