Things to do with tshirts - apart from wear them.

I have some tshirts to use up somehow as well as all the fabric I mentioned last week.
Most of them are khaki or grey, so not very inspiring in the colour department, but I'm sure I can find something to do with them.

Where to start?
With jewellery of course.

1. Bracelets.

These bright braided bracelets are fun.
And easy-peasy.

2. Knotted bracelets.

Would look good with some pretty coloured tshirts.

3. Necklace.
This is like the one I have made (but have no photo of)

4. Braided necklace.
A bit more involved than the previous necklace/scarfy thing.
But has a neater end result for them that likes that sort of thing.

5. Headband.
That is a bit braided and a bit not (or knot!)

6. Wrap vest.
Uses an extra large men's tshirt..
The end result is a bit super and you can also wear it as a scarf.

7. Yoga pants.
This one needs a bit more work and measuring.
And would look really nice with a tshirt like this with a suitable design on the front.
But I'm not totally discounting it.

8. Tshirt to dress.
Now this has given me an idea - I have some hippie skirts that I thought to recycle into dresses and I could attach them to a tshirt top a bit like these.

10. Laptop case.
This I like! A lot.

11. Dishcloths.
You cut up your tshirt into strips to make yarn and then you knit or crochet a small square with big needles (I guess)
Or you could just cut up your tshirt to use as a rag! Much easier.

13. Rugs.

Maybe it's the inner hippie in me - but I have a yen to do some tie-dying!

So I started looking for inspiration -

.....but supply your own cat!

A bit of this 'n that - my creative space

Creating this week has been mainly filling orders from last week's market.

I sold a necklace that I have had for a while. It was an unusual one for me at the moment, as it had a larger silver-set labrodite pendant and moonstone and labrodite drops on a silver chain.
I only put it out on my stall as I had run out of my bright, bold ones.
Anyway the woman who it was meant for came along - and it was love at first sight!

And she wanted earrings to match.
So this is what I came up with -

These 2 cuties are another order for a lady who was (wo)manning the SES stand.

All my coral and howlite necklaces sold, in fact there were 2 ladies almost fighting over 2 of them!
I promised to make a longer version on one for the losing customer and had to order some more beads for it.
I love my bead supplier, they always ship overnight, and always include smarties! How thoughtful!

While I was rummaging in my fabric stash I came across this cutie that I've had for a while and decided today was the day to do something with it.

Here is all finished on a light summery singlet.
I think it's cute and wonder why I didn't do it before!

So much to do! My creative space

It's such a busy time of year!
Have I said that before?
It makes me think that there's not so much creative stuff going on - more like production!
Do you feel like that sometimes?

However I did create a new tshirt for my Boos Tees business.
As I'm going to the Love Lawson festival which has a beard and moustache competition, so I designed this specially for the occassion.

I also have to do an alteration on this necklace for a customer, she wants it 7cm longer.
It will be a bit of a design challenge without adding any more of the faceted stones, but I have a little idea.

I also made some of these sweet summer necklaces for the market this weekend - they were very popular last weekend.

So much for my creative space this week!

Multi-tasking - 3 things in one day - my creative space

Are you the sort of crafty peep who does lots and lots of things?
I am!
Sometimes I wonder if I am the jack of all trades...and master of none.

My main business is jewellery designing (as you probably know) and I have a rampant love of handmade glass beads.
Now I know that making glass lampwork beads is a skill that takes time to learn, and I have been learning for a few years - but not on a regular or frequent basis. Which is what it takes to get proficient at something like this.

So the other day I dipped my rods in bead release ready for a stint of lampworking - and today it happenend!
Crikey! I had forgotten how and had to look up the instructions in a book, but, you know - you have to start (or restart) somewhere.

I set myself the goal of making 10 beads.

While they were cooling down I picked up some beadweaving that I've had on the go for a couple of weeks and have unfortunately had to use the frog stitch* too many times.
I thought I'd finished but then realised that I had done one row too many - so more frog stitch : (

I needed a break before I threw the wretched beadwork through the window - so it was off to my sewing room (yes, I have 2 workrooms - that's what happens when you become an empty-nester),
as I remembered that I needed to restock some tshirts for my Boos Tees shop.

Then I got my new-born beads out of their vermiculite womb (vermiculite stops them cooling down too quickly and cracking)
Here they are - a pretty motley crew if you ask me.

 

But if I set myself a goal of 10 beads a day - or most days, I'm sure I will improve.

Now I also have to get them off the rods, which is always fun and sometimes a non-event.

I'll show you when/if I get them off and cleaned up,

Help! I have some new t's!

Boos Tees has recently come into the ownership of some more tshirts.

A friend of mine used to do some printed tshirts but is no longer making them, so I jumped at the chance of taking them off his hands.

At the moment they are washed and folded -

The thing is I don't know what I should put on them!

The tshirts are khaki and look more like this -

They are ladies sizes 8, 12 and 16 (Australian sizes).
All suggestions warmly received.

Wednesday Wishlist

So long since I've posted a Wednesday wishlist, and my wishes are piling up!

Even though we have now entered autumn I still covet everything in this shop -

I'm seriously on the lookout for a new handbag.
This one is on my short list.
I love the fabric so much and last weekend I saw a lady with a skirt made from this fabric. It was great!

I dont know if it's my fondness for antique maps, or the balloon, or the bird?
It's the combination of these elements that make the whole.
