Five fabulous Friday finds

Happy New Year!

Starting the first Friday Finds of the year with a sentiment that I'll try and live up to this year.

And then following with a few of my favorite things!

Chook! Well actually a rooster.
I have a soft spot for watercolours - love the almost oriental simplicity of this style.

Oh, yes! and cats!
If you love cats go check out this shop on etsy. It is full of all sorts of cheeky, naughty, whimsical cats.
These chubby little cats sitting on a sofa reading just tickled my fancy!

And I still seem to be obsessed with rings!
How about this trio of aquamarine rings?

Five fabulous finds on Friday

It's nearly Christmas!
How are you going?
Are all the presents packed and wrapped under the tree?
Or are you like me...and just starting the serious stuff?

Well, whatever - here are some sweet picks from my faves.
Now that I look at them, they are a very eclectic collection!

A great mix of styles and a wonderful range of creativity.

Who could resist this cheeky little sexpot by JMNPottery?

At the far extreme of style - is this gorgeous wallet by italia craft.
I love them both - is that odd of me?

Using up more bits and bobs - my creative space

A couple of weeks ago I posted about using up my odd bead stash to make bracelets - this week I gone crazy making rings.
These use up some of the lovely czech and venetian glass beads combined with artistic wire.
Sometimes I also use nice quality stones too.
This is a very portable project - I have it on my shoe box lid with a piece of fuzzy beading mat.

What's in your creative space this week?

What I made last week

Time to get busy again for the first big event of the year - Australia Day celebrations at Glenbrook Park.

I made some earrings using my favorite Czech glass beads.

- little necklaces with glass pendants and my own mixes of seed beads.

- rings, with handmade lampwork glass beads, czech glass beads, venetian glass, and gemstones.

- and some more earrings, this time with unicorn beads, and venetian glass with little swarovski crystals for a bit of spaarkle.

rings at last

I have been thinking for a while that it would be great to make rings featuring the beautiful czech lampwork beads that I use.

So I already make hat pins and pin brooches with them, as well as dangly earrings, which I have been doing for years.

I tried a prototype using craft wire, and soon realised I needed a ring mandrel to get the nice round shape. My test one was kinda wonky.

My lovely friend, Lindy lent me a wire wrapped ring that she had bought and I got the idea of wire wrapping, but needed some nice wire.

So guess what was on my shopping list when I went to the bead show the other week?

Now I had the right equipment - most important, but no time!

Yesterday was the first chance I had to play.... and wow! it was such fun. The rings turned out great!

First of all I used some czech faceted firepolished beads. When my daughter saw them she 'was , like, totally Cooool'! She took two to school to do a survey of her 17 year old friends - and sold one! What a great start.

Then I pulled out all my oval czech lampwork beads and a couple of pretty Venetian glass beads and made rings until I ran out of wire.

I'm really pleased with the way they turned out and I will be taking them to the next Kirribilli Art and Design market on13th July.
