Monday treasuries

How wonderful to find myself in two treasuries his week, and both by curators who make amazing treasuries, as well as being talented creators.

handsmadebylorri was inspired by the Tour de France and selected my new fingerless mitts in her treasury.

My mitts can be found in BoosTees shop.

I took it as a great compliment because Lorraine is a very experinced knitter, who has also got some lovely mitts in her shop, but I couldnt resist this lovely colourful neck warmer.

hannahfaerie is the treasury queen!

I was thrilled to see my amethyst earrings in this colourful collection.

hannahfaerie makes amazing ceramic beads and uses them to create her own unique pieces.

This one would have fitted so well into her own treasury.

Cant wait to see what this week brings!

Local legend has it that Christmas in July started on one dark cold winter's night in 1980 in a hotel in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales.
A group of Irish friends were toasting their toes in front of a roaring log fire and bemoaning the hot christmases here in Australia.
The enterprising hotelier offered to serve a traditional christmas feast, with all the associated trimmings, and Santa - and the tradition was begun.

Since then the tradition has spread around the world, not just places in the Southern hemisphere.
Any excuse for a celebration!

Join the Australian sellers on etsy as they hold their first ever huge Christmas in July event.
With most shops having discount sales and give-aways in the etsy forums.

It's nearly Christmas!

Christmas in July, that is!

Starting first thing Saturday morning, there will be giveaways and special offers from members of the DUST (down under street team) on etsy.

So this week I've picked out items that I've been coveting from these fantastic Aussie sellers.

Pocketcarnival is a very talented artist and also makes the cutest bags and clutches which feature some of her creations.
As well as clutches made from awesome fabric!

Speaking of bags and purses there are many wonderful bag creators down here and it's hard to choose just one.

but here goes -

I'm always a sucker for a prettty skirt!

And this one is top of my list at the moment -

Come on by to the DUST Christmas in July Sale on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

See above for more details.

Monday treasuries

I was so lucky last week.

Three beautiful treasuries - and two by the same lovely lady.

Apparently "Scarlet women have all the fun" according to scathinglybrilliant and who could disagree when you look at this stunning collection.

I'm tickled pink (or red) that the lovely Vanessa included my Soho red earrings.

Vanessa is a very talented artist.
Take a look at her shop and you will see beautiful lino-cuts like this one -

family of owls linocut on recycled music score paper by scathinglybrilliant

The second treasury from scathinglybrilliant, was this terrific blue one, where she was kind enough to include my Venice Lagoon earrings.

Blue just has to be my favorite colour!

Vanessa has an alter-ego called theuppitywoman where she sells vintage goodies, like this amazing shirt -

very art deco shirt from theuppitywoman

Then I was surprised to learn from twitter that LittleDickensDesigns had been inspired to make a collection of twitter followers.

Now isnt that a great idea!?

Littledickens chose my mermaids necklace to feature alongside all these other aqua beauties.

LittleDickens is a very creative artist who is in the process of revamping her etsy shop, but you can still see this gloriously colourful creation -

Thanks to both of you!

The Dish

It was an absolutely gloroius day at the Parkes radio telescope, "The Dish".

Wishlist Wednesday - 13

I love riding my bicycle!
I love swooshing and whooshing down hill - puffing and panting up the other side is not so pretty.

I'm certainly not tour de france material!

But I would love to add this bag to my bike to carry my lunch, camera, lippie and stuff

It is a little bit cold at the moment and I thought some stylish gloves would fit the bill.
These are great 'cus you can peel the finger part back when you need to use you fingers, and even roll the thumb back too.
So ingeneous!

And they can be made in many colours - how about some red ones to match my bag?

And for those days when I just cant go out riding -

something to dream about!

One thing I have already bought specially for my bike riding days - too keep my ears warm -

Happy pedalling!

Carmel of Laceandlinks is multi-talented and has a gorgeous and eclectic shop.

I just love these cup-cosies
One for you and one for your friend!

In contrast to laceandlinks treasury I made this sup-colourful one!

New cards and a new banner

I'm thrilled with the way these business cards turned out - for our tshirt shop on etsy, BoosTees.

It is one of Vista prints' own designs but it suits our shop well.

How cute are the little owls!

The writing is a bit small, so next time I'll make it bigger, but I love the swirly font.

I also ordered a banner for my market stall.

I've been wanting one for years.

This also is a Vista design and it look so much better than my previous laminated sign.

dust christmas in july

what do I want to be when I grow up?

Like many other craftspeople, I like to dabble.

What I mainly do is string beads, make earrings, necklaces, bracelets - things that dont take a great deal of time, are popular, sell and enable me to go and buy more lovely beads.

But it's fun to dabble and play and learn!

This is what I have been dabbling with recently.

I much admire beader Beth Stone.
Her book 'Seed Bead Stitching' is much more exciting than it sounds, showing basic techniques of bead weaving and a myriad of variations.

I have been learning some of her techniques.

right angle weave, daisy chain, tri stitch, quad stitch, tri stitch variation, and twisted brick stitch made into a bracelet.

I subscribe to Beadwork magazine, and it is always inspirational.
With my growing collection of japanese cylinder beads I was lured into making this bracelet, designed by Linda Gettings.

It took ages!

roller-girl bracelet

I am still fsacinated by triangles and they make up relatively quickly.
The hanging part is the most challenging.
Trying to find a method that looks part of the piece is my goal.
I want it to be an extension of the triangle somehow, but havent got it quite right here.

Back to the drawing/beading board!
