Name that mannequin!

I've been having some fun with my new 'baby'

I just have to find the right spot for her.

But so far I have found her very adaptable.

I can use her for tshirts -

for necklaces short -

and long -

But she really needs a name!

Leave a comment with your suggestion and next week I'll pick a winner and then that person can pick any item from Boos Tees shop as a prize!

I've had a few wonderful suggestions already, but let's see what else you can come up with!

I'll decide on a winner next Wednesday.

Thanks!

My creative space

this week - some new necklaces!

It's been a while but I got all inspired and made several new necklaces.
Some of them use new beads -

some a combination of newbies and beads from my stash -

And some from remodelled necklaces that havn't sold -

This one I really want to keep for myself!

I rarely keep my own jewellery now. My daughter always tells me "no! You have to sell it"
She's my conscience!

How about you?
Do you keep what you make? Or do you sell it all? Or give it away? Or all of the above?

Wednesday Wishlist

Sometimes your wishes come true!

I've wished for a head mannequin for ages.
One that I can use for photographing earrings. It would also be useful for BoosTees knitted hats.

So Tina arrived! complete with fun face mask!

Ah, that's better!

I also bit the bullet and bought a headless mannequin to photograph BoosTees tshirts on. could also be useful at craft fairs.
And I realise it's great for phographing necklaces.

She doesnt have a name!
Any suggestions?
Leave a comment with your suggestion and next week I'll pick a winner and then that person can pick any item from Boos Tees shop as a prize!

Easy!

I've also been meaning to show you this wonderful brooch I bought from the Queensland disaster relief shop. It was on my wishlist of lovely items that were donated to the shop.
So I consulted my financial planner (me) and bought the brooch from Lauren Williams.

It arrived in the most gorgeous packaging!

and the brooch itself is so sweet -

I dont know whether to keep it for myselfor give to a friend for a gift.
Decisions, decisions!

You can find more of Lauren's pretty jewellery in her Madeit shop.

Do you have a wishlist to share?
Have any of your wishes come true?

roasted pumpkin salad

For this salad you will need -
1kg butternut pumpkin peeled and cut into 3 cm cubes.
Place on non-stick oven tray and spray with oil. Season witht salt and freshly gound pepper.
Roast in oven at 200 C for 20 mins.
Cool a bit, doesnt really matter if it's warm but shouldnt be too hot.

At the same time put half a cup of hazelnuts on some foil and put on baking tray in oven for about 10 mins.
Chop roughly.

Meanwhile rinse 1 cup of small french lentils and place in saucepan with 3 cups of water. Bring to boil and cook for about 15 minutes until tender. Drain.

For a dressing I mixed 1 Tbs olive oil, 2 Tbs white balsamic vinegar and 2 Tbs honey. Shake them together in a screw-to jar and if it doesnt mix well, pop in the microwave for5 - 10 seconds and then shake again.
Pour a little of the dressing through the lentils and mix.

On serving plate arrange salad greens of your choice.
Put warm pumpkin on top. Then several spoons of lentils.
Crumble feta on top and scatter with chopped hazelnuts.

I added a garnish of quartered fresh figs and decorated the plate with quartered roma tomatoes.

Drizzle with the leftover dressing.

Not-Monday madness

Often on Monday I post about something I am mad about, but my previous post about my new-look blog had me thinking about not being mad about shabby chic.

Shabby chic is just not me - I'm an IKEA kind of girl, in fact I may have mentioned before that we have almost the complete IKEA house!

I'm not chintzy, or floral, or pink or tizzy!
And shabby chic can be all those things.

But I do like aged, distressed timbers that have a story to tell.
I like weathered, painted surfaces.
I like bird cages and damask designs.

I like old writing on old postcards.

These are some things that I do like!

What is your opinion of shabby chic?
Are you shabby or chic??
What is your style?

New look

I'm not really a shabby chic kind of girl - but I knew my blog needed a makeover.

But What and How?
I knew there were free templates around but hadnt investigated them, but I spied background I liked over at Kerri's blog vintage sew and sew, and saw that it came from itkupilli.
They have cute'n cool blog stuff and it's tres simple to use!

So now "voila!" - new look planettreasures blog!

I love it so much - I cant stop looking at it!

Next is a make-over for my planettreasures etsy shop!

Mad about doors

I do like doors.
The older and more weathered the better.
Why is that?

Is it because they have a story to tell about all the lives that have passed through?

What are you mad about?

And remember to leave a comment, this is the last day to enter my earring giveaway - I'll draw a winner tomorrow.

My creative space

Today I had an unscheduled day playing shops at the craft co-operative that I belong to.
How it works is that we take it in turns to man (or woman) the shop, which is open every day.
But todays rostered person had an appointment and asked if I could swap.
That's one of the things that is so good about the co-op, we all help each other out.

So I grabbed a couple of boxes of beads so that I'd have something to do between customers. In fact customers like to see when we are creating and I always get comments about "all those tiny beads"!

This is a spirtal roe bracelet using 7 different shapes and colours of czech and japanese beads from size 11 up to 4mm cubes.
Did I tell you already how much I love cubes?
Remind me to show you what I made last time.

I also have to show you my newly organised workspace but it's not quite ready yet!
Maybe next week ; )

Wednesday Wishlist

So long since I've posted a Wednesday wishlist, and my wishes are piling up!

Even though we have now entered autumn I still covet everything in this shop -

ruffled flowers tshirt by nikacollection

I'm seriously on the lookout for a new handbag.
This one is on my short list.
I love the fabric so much and last weekend I saw a lady with a skirt made from this fabric. It was great!

This artwork speaks to me.
I dont know if it's my fondness for antique maps, or the balloon, or the bird?
It's the combination of these elements that make the whole.
