this week's offerings

My knitting adventures continue - but I'm not ready yet to unveil the finished products.

Hopefully they will be ready next week.

In the meantime I have managed to get to the sewing machine and make a few more brooches for BoosTees shop.

I'll start listing them over the next few days in BoosTees.etsy.com

Wednesday wishlist

It's time to wish for some warmer clothes.
Warm but stylish -

and some warm slippers (since I still can't get shoes on my left foot!)

Then just because I am a big fan of japanese tea bowls.

Hmmm, must be time for a cuppa!

See you next week!

Tuesday tune - Tim Minchin

After seeing The Pope song by Tim Minchin on tumblr last week, I thought I would bring a bit of fun to my blog today.
The Pope Song is not appropriate!
And there are a few others that may be offensive.
Whatever - I think he is very funny and very clever.

Enjoy!

monday treasury

Lots of people have been having fun with treasury east on etsy.

Strawberrycouture included my city nights bracelet in this collection of sellers from Sydney.

Strawberrycouture is from Texas and I didnt ask what the connection with Sydney was.
Anyway I was totally blown away when I visited her shop!
There is the most amazing collection of crotcheted hats!

Like this one -

You simply must go and have a look!
They are sculptured headwear.

Carley from vanillapixie had fun with greens.
and what a lovely subtle selection.

Thanks Carley for choosing my spring morning necklace.

Carley makes the ever popular little hair clippies for little ones.
Her shop is in vacation mode at the moment but when she gets back you can have a look at all her pretties.

Then I also noticed that BoosTees had been picked in this clever treasury from aylla.
Thanks aylla for including my men's tshirt 'on the road'

I discovered a little gem in aylla's shop.
Gorgeous cute purses and pouches.

Could be a pencil case, but is really too nice to be just a pencil case.

Great gifts - you could put some of vanillapixie's clippies in them!

going round in circles, mainly

The first bit involves something I've never done before!
Knitting on a circular needle.
Some experienced knitters like to knit everything this way.
The advantages are - if it's a stocking stitch pattern you knit every row. No more twisting your wrist to do the pearl stitch!
And no pesky looking for a darning needle and messy sewing up of seams! (mine are pretty messy!)
Anyway the rest of this project has to be knitted on a set of double ended needles beacuse it gets too small for the circular needle.

More about this later.

Then back to beading and something else that goes round and round.
Spiral stitch.
It seems to go round and round for ever!
I'm not sure about the use of the cube beads in this, I dont think it's the best use for them.
They dont seem to sit quite right, although I like the chunky look.
Cube beads really sit well in a flat design, but considering the lenght of time it took to finish this, I'm not about to take it apart!

Well, I love random and colourful projects.
This brick stitch bracelet is a great way to use up small amount of beads.

Look out for more knitting next week.

- and the winner is -

the lovely Hazel from Intheframe.

Thanks so much to all those who took the time to send me their reading recommendations - I'm slowly working my way through them
I'm a bit of a slow reader and at the moment I can't put down a trio of Rebus books by Ian Rankin, and I'm also reading "The White Masai" by Corinne Hoffman.
It's not usual or me to read more than one book at a time, I think I'll get confused. But these two are so different (!) I dont think confusion will be a problem.

I do love reading real life stories, travel stories and autobiographies - I'm a bit of an armchair traveller, especially at the moment.

I'll let you know how I go with the next books on my list.
Stayed tuned!

7 things I want to do when I get my cast off

1. Stand on my own two feet - gingerly.

2. Have a nice long bath.

3. Wear normal clothes (not just baggy pants)

4. Make a cup of tea and carry it to the table.

5. Go downstairs - and come up again.

6. Shave my legs.

7. Stop hopping!
