Getting to the pointy end! - my creative space

There hasn't been much jewellery designing going on here lately! It's a quiet time of year.

So I've got the knitting out again, turned the dvds on and settled down for the winter.

This is something I started last year with some hand-dyed locally grown alpaca/merino mix bought from the alpaca wrangler herself (she also spins her own, but I think this was commercially spun)

In case you couldn't guess - it's a hat....for me...another one!

What's in your creative space this week?

Using up those bits and bobs - my creative space

We all have them don't we?
Little odds and ends....bits and bobs....stuff left over from other projects, stuff you don't use anymore, stuff you bought by mistake....you know how it is!

Here is one of my solutions to beady bits and bobs -

Memory wire bracelets with random (or carefully selected) arrangements of all sorts of beads - the brighter and more un-co the better!
Actually some designing is required to get a good balance of sixe, colour and shape - but the end result is artfully chaotic!

What do you do with your odds and ends?

Are you making earrings AGAIN!?

Well - yes, I am making earrings again!

It's what I love.
It's how I got started in this crazy self-employed-home-business journey.

I love how you can take the simplest of beads and turn them into a beautiful adornment.
I love how you can take the prettiest beads and turn them into a simple stylish acccessory.

And from a business point of view I sell way, way more earrings than anything else.
They are the bread and butter of my business.
People always seem to enjoy a new pair of earrings when they might not go for a different piece of jewellery.

I love wearing earrings.
I feel naked if I go out without my earrings.

Well that's my creative space this week - if you'd like to see more creative spaces or join in hop on over to Village Voices (we have moved!)

Walking with Kookaburras

You know that I'm going trekking in the Himalayas in 8 weeks time? Yikes!

So I'm doing some serious training - walking, up and down hills and walking some more!

Here are some pics from todays expedition - a beautiful little spot just 15 mins drive away in the National Park in the foothills of the Blue Mountains.

The track goes through a popular picnic and camping area at Euroka Clearing which was a farm in the old days.
As I sat on a bench to have my lunch who should arrive but Mr (or Mrs) Kooka!

Then there were 2!

...and then 3!

The middle one is a bit hard to see.

The walk ends up at the Nepean River which is looking a bit brown after all the rain we've had lately.

Not so bad close up -

It's a great time of year for doing walks around here, as the summer is normally too hot.

A great 3 hour workout - done!

Production lines and art shows

Not too much creating going on this week as I had an art and craft show to get ready for.
This has got to be one of the most boring jobs - you have to label all your goods, then catalogue them and then I like to arrange most of my pieces on display boards before I go.

This art show is the type where you leave your goods for the duration of the show (2 days and one evening) and thet sell them for you (hopefully!)

But I decided to make some more pendants and that is what I did this week and then I catalogued ....nearly 200 items - I hope they ALL sell.
Well they won't but I can dream, right?

Do you do these sort of art and craft shows?
Often they are fundraisers for schools and such.

Here is part of my display at the school.
You can see what I mean about the boards, I think it helps my display to stay neater as I'm not there to tizzy it up.
