The things that rocked my socks this week.

the memories of childhood
looking forward to our future as grey nomads
the anticipation of a new book
comfort food on a dreary day
the lightness that comes with decluttering
sunlight on ferns
the best start to the week
I'm looking forward to a whole lotta lovin' this week!
Are you?

Finding joy every day.

There is something to find enjoyment in every day, you just have to look.

Having good coffee nearby.

Tuna salad wrap for lunch. So much nicer than stodgy bread!

You have to use your imagination for this one - the smell of my little crafty shop The Nook Leura when I open the door.
A combination of lavender, camphor laurel, soap scents, and tea.

Getting out again and walking, this time with a very tame magpie.

Red cabbage, raw mostly. Yep.

And another bushwalk to lift my spirits (it does work!)
Blue skies, smell of eucalypts, gentle hum of cicadas.

Family skype.
(What did we do before skype?)

Sunday afternoon movies seem to be becoming a bit of a habit.

How was your week?
Did you manage to find joy in some of the small things in life?

This week I loved.....

Going to the movies at our little local independent cinema.

Going for a bushwalk to a spectacular lookout, even though it was very hot!

A lovely morning walk to meet friends for coffee.

Getting a beading magazine in the mail.

More movies! A whole week's supply for $5!

A walk among the big bluegums.

Movies again! Spoiled rotten at Gold Class.

Yay! That was at least 7 things I loved this week.
How about you? How was your week?

Weekend wanderings - blogtoberfest 2013 day 13.

We went for a bushwalk.
It was meant to be an easy little jaunt....but turned into a 3 1/4 hour epic!

We started in Glenbrook where unfortunately there has been some recent burning of the bush - deliberate (as in hazard reduction) or accidental (as in actual bushfire) we weren't sure as the bush wasn't completely burnt and it was only on one side of the path.

We were descending to Glenbrook creek which is actually a lot further away than it looks here -

Down at creek level, there are lots of nice swimming holes.

Mr planet contemplating the water -

There isn't really a track along the creek, but a bit of a foot pad and walking involved a fair bit of rock-hopping, scrambling and pushing through bushes.
It's not that hard, I just wasn't in the mood for it.

It was a bit warm.

So eventually we did go for a dunk in the water - which was surprisingly cold!
And there are no pictures as we had to skinny-dip.

It cooled us off before the climb out and back along the fire trail to the car.

Sunday Snippets - a walk in the park.

A great way to spend a Sunday - a bushwalk in the middle of suburbia, in Lane Cove National Park.

Some days...

Some days I can't even wake up. I feel like I'm drugged...but I'm not.

Some days it's far too tempting to stay in bed for far too long. You know, when it's too snuggly and you take a cup of tea and breakfast back to bed and the cat cuddles up under the doona and you listen to the radio and can't think of a good enough reason to get out of bed?

Some days it seems as though I'm carrying problems from near and far, shouldering tragedies big and small.

Some days I need my spirits lifted.

Some days I just need to GET OUT.

Days like this when the sun is shining and the air is cool...these are the best days to get out.
These are the best days to lift my spirits.

These are the best days to get out into the bush.

Especially when these guys and gals run over to the fence to say "hello".

There were so many birds out and about today too - little flitty birds, whip birds, rosellas, sulphur crested cockatoos ripping at the tree bark.

An hour later I'm home again.

Some days you just have to get out and smell the fresh air.
