I've been shopping - again! My creative space.

Bead shopping, of course!

Buying lots of lovely summer brights!

I'm so looking forward to summer - are you?

Actually the main reason for my shopping trip was to get some chain - so that mission was successful!

Oh, yes - and some more bits of brightness!
Delicious - yes?

A while ago I had some cute beads which I made into sweet little earrings....then I lost them, sadly.
So while I was in Sydney last week I just happened to pop into the button shop in the rocks and picked up some more.
Can't wait to get these turned into stud earrings.

Meanwhile back at the workbench - I created some simple silver pendant necklaces.
Next I need to make some gold and brass ones ready for my next market >>>>>>>>

Brights and black and creative tips - my creative space

I'm still in the mood for bright!
Continuing my love affair with turquoise and yellow and asymmerty.
This one has large turquoise coloured howlite coins with some smooth yellow ceramic tubes.

Summery? yes?

Moving along to some simple necklaces with bubble-gum bright beads -

Then a change - as I was searching for some more turquoise I rediscovered these lovely faceted black agate beads.
I tried pairing them with pearls but in the end decided to keep it simple.

A feature silver bead makes these necklaces tres chic!

Expanding the design idea I used some amazing burgundy pearls and pewter grey pearls.

This week I'm joining in with My Creative Spaces on Village Voices - hop on over there if you'd like to join in, see what others have been creating or read their tips for staying creative.

My tips for staying creative -

There's nothing quite like getting some new supplies for stimulating creativity.

Or just get out your exsisting supplies and "play" with them.

Summer breeze

I'm longing for summer!
Hate this cold weather!
So I've been playing with some lovely summery colours inspired by visions of sand and sea.

Turquoise and butter jade, bright orange and citrus glass beads.

And here's what I've produced so far -

I'm loving the assymetric look -

Now I can't get this song out of my head!

Finishing off!

This bracelet had been sitting on my desk for at least a year waiting for a clasp. I even had found a suitable clasp!
Now, voila! It's finished.

That's one less UFO in my workroom! How about you?

Production lines and art shows

Not too much creating going on this week as I had an art and craft show to get ready for.
This has got to be one of the most boring jobs - you have to label all your goods, then catalogue them and then I like to arrange most of my pieces on display boards before I go.

This art show is the type where you leave your goods for the duration of the show (2 days and one evening) and thet sell them for you (hopefully!)

But I decided to make some more pendants and that is what I did this week and then I catalogued ....nearly 200 items - I hope they ALL sell.
Well they won't but I can dream, right?

Do you do these sort of art and craft shows?
Often they are fundraisers for schools and such.

Here is part of my display at the school.
You can see what I mean about the boards, I think it helps my display to stay neater as I'm not there to tizzy it up.

Getting organised! 0r 3 into 2 WILL go!

My problem is that my creative space is just too big!
Why is that a problem you might ask?
And I realise it might be hard to understand for you creative types who work on the dining room table, or in a tiny corner of the room, but the more space I have the more messy and disorganised I am.

I now have 3 - yes, THREE - rooms at my disposal!
This is what happens when you become an empty-nester!

My original workroom is overflowing with my beady supplies (which, again, might be hard to understand for you non-beady peeps) - but I have a LOT of beads and other associated paraphernalia.
That room also stores my market stuff - tables, gazebo, display stands etc.

When my daughter moved out, her room became my sewing room and tshirt storage room. That is not too hard to keep in check because she comes bcak home often enough that I have to keep it reasonably tidy.

When my son moved out I moved my papery stuff in there as he left his rather large desk and shelves in his room (plus sundry other junk).

So now the plan is to tidy this up -

move this desk from workroom #1 into workroom #2.

Then all the tshirt stuf can also move into room #3 and workroom #2 will become guest room!

Have you followed all that?
good! Then you can come right on over and give me a hand!

Hopefully it will get done this weekend and I'll be able to show you pics next week.

My creative space

I'm knitting again!
Now the weather is cooler (was it ever hot this summer?) I feel inspired to get the needles out and make some mitts.
I can't remember where I got the jazzy red sparkly wool from but thought I'd give a go as contrast with the blue. Something a bit fun!

My Creative Space

Do you get...well...not stuck in a rut exactly? But maybe in a groove....or you get stuck with a certain design idea, or colour scheme and can't shake it off?

Well I have this week - I couldn't stop playing with the combination of these lovely natural amazonite beads with darker blues - lapiz, blue agate and glass.
I had to force myself to make something different!

So far I have come up with these 4 necklaces - but I have more beads and I have'nt managed to use the square lapiz ones yet - I've only got 3 of them left.

How is your creative space going this week - hope you're not stuck in a rut!

My creative space - first one this year!

After the great earring challenge of January, I've gone back to some really quick and simple earrings.

I've also been playing around with photo stying to see if I can get something a little more modern looking.

What do you think?

Mind you the light has been awful lately - it keep coming over all dark and then poring with rain!
Far from optimum phographing weather : (

My creative space

Another Thursday - another creative space. Don't they seem to come round quickly
Actually I don't mind toomuch becasue if I havn't created anything for a few days it makes me go and get my making hat on!

This week I'm playing with my bead stash again as in an earlier post.

I've been transforming them into bracelets as these are easiest way to use up odd beads.

My Creative Space - blogtoberfest day 20

This week I have been using up some of my bead stash.
I'm sure you know what I mean when I say I have quite a stash!
And I'm sure more than one of you is guilty of having a stash of some kind - a fabric stash, a wool stash, a paper stash...or if you are like me you have many stashes!

So although I bought quite a few new beads last weekend I was inspired to revisit some oldies.

I have had these hand made lampwork beads for so long I can't remember where they came from or who the glass artists are, so if you are a glass artist and you recognise your beads here please reveal yourself!

They are most sparingly used in bracelets.

While I was foraging in my stash I found these sweet little handmade glass drops. I remember using them for bracelets before but this time they became earrings...with some earwires that I bought ages ago for some long-forgotten project.

I have sold quite a few pairs of earrings through madeit this week and I've had a craft swap to do ...but, shhh, I can't show you that yet!

Here is some of my new bead stash and I'm dieing to do something with the green and orange beads!

My creative space - blogtoberfest day 13

I'm running out of time today!
I've been doing too much running around - driving around and have no time left to blog!
What a sad state of affairs : (

Anyway I came home to find these little cuties in my letter box - they were in a parcel!

Can you guess what I'm going to do with them?

You might have to wait until next week to find out!

My Creative Space - blogtoberfest day 6

Hi and how are all the crafty creators today?

I've been busy making lots of new stock for the start of the spring fair season.

I wanted to have a bit of a floral/nature/birdie theme so I made some pendants with some images that I bought ages ago.

One of them I made into a necklace with a silver branch component but the others....well that's a surprise!

I also made some owly branch necklaces with brass findings.

My creative space

Hi and happy Thursday to everyone!

How has your week been so far?

I have been doing some serious creating, realising it's only one week until the start of the spring fair season.

With that in mind I have been making some spring themed jewellery like these bird's best necklaces.
Now I realise that the bird's nests are not new, and I didn't invent them, but I had a stash of czech glass pearls that I wasn't using plus a few other round stone beads that needed a purpose.

These wire-wrapped pendants are perfect beacuse they use 3 little round beads and wire (that I already had).
Also although there are plenty of these on etsy I haven't seen them out in the markets here, so they will be a bit of freshness on my stall.

Next up - I've had a few requests for stud earrings.
The other week when I was in sydney for my wedding anniversary I had a bit of shopping time and as luck would have it our hotel was almost next door to the most fabulous button shop "Buttons buttons buttons". I always love having a poke around in there and picked up some sweet little buttons to use for earrings.

What do you think?

And that's about it for now...back to my creative space to do some creating, however if you'd like to see more creative spaces or join in then pop on over to Our Creative Spaces.

See you next time!

My creative space

I my creative space this week just a couple of simple bracelets to see how I go with my sore thumb.
I found that I can do most things left-handed and that the most difficult part is tightening the stringing wire, but somehow I managed!

I just love these bright stripey beads - they are a coloured malachite -
Rainbow malachite and fusion malachite...very sweet for summer!

See you next week : )

My creative space

My creative space this week is bead-free!

I have a very sore thumb.
I think it's trigger finger - or thumb....again!
I have had this in my left thumb before and had surgery....so now I'm supposed to be resting my thiumb in the hope that it will un-freeze!

I'm not very hopeful...and I'm very frustrated - I have lots of lovely new supplies....but can't use them!

Some things I can do lefthanded - like stamping!

My creative space

My creative space today has been my bed!
Due to having a cold then a secondary infection, cough, fever - you name it - I've got it!

So I have done a lot of reading and some knitting, finishing off a hat I started last year.

Knitting the band round the edge nearly drove me mad! I couldnt pick up the correct number of stiches and had to undo it many times.
Anyway it is now finished apart from sewing the ends in. Yay!

In the afternoon the little deck off our bedroom is a nice sunny spot and has a nice view, but I coundt photograph it because of looking into the sun.
I also look down on the part of the garden where the bower bird's bower is, but it is well hidden.
There was however lots of bowery activity down there.

Here he is - he doesnt look much but he is a lovely glossy bluey-black colour, perhaps about the size of a chicken?

Th cat likes it out on the deck too - anywhere the sun is - that's where she'll be.
