and the september winner is.....

.....melanie!

I will be contacting melanie and she can choose a tshirt from BoosTees shop.

In case you are wondering, the results of my survey on tshirt colour are as follows -

Black - 12
White - 4
Sand - 4
Grey - 3
Pink - 3
Brown - 2
Orange - 1

So black is the clear winner!

We'll also continue with white and may try grey instead of sand this summer.
Pink and orange are very unlikey to happen, but we do have lovely pink and orange designs on our tshirts.

It was a bit difficult to be very accurate as some people obviously couldnt decide and voted for several colours, and some people voted for a tshirt design instead.

But that's OK.

I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to look and entered and commented and twittered and blogged,
and hi to all my new blog followers.

Look out for another giveaway next week for the month of October.

Huge weekend

What a huge weekend I'm going to have!

An exhibition and a big sale!

The exhibition is the Mountain Makers at Glenbrook, in the beautiful Blue Mountains in NSW, Australia.

And I'm part of the DUST (down under street team) participation in etsy's weekend deals!

I'm mad I know, but I actually have a lot of stock I'd like to see go to a good home so that I can make some new pieces.
Especially since I went to the Sydney Bead and Gem show last night and just couldnt come away empty handed!

So if you are in the Blue Mountains or near the Blue Mountains or in Sydney and would like a nice day out (there are other lovely shops in Glenbrook and great cafes and the National Park is minutes away and the hall is in the same building as the Glenbrook Cinema - the best cinema ever) come to Glenbrook Hall, next to the information centre on the Great Western Highway.

We're open 9am - 5pm Saturday and 9am - 3pm sunday.

Or if you're a bit further away check out all the great weekend deals from fab aussie sellers.
You can see them all on the DUST team blog.

How to post a picture of a treasury on your blog

I have used a couple of different methods.

One before I used firefox and the way I do now - using firefox.

1. Firefox has an add-on called Fireshot.
It's easy to install and easy to use.
It captures the whole page and not just the screen.

2. Click on the S icon to capture the page.
It will say 'save screenshot'
I save it in a folder for treasuries, in amongst all my photos.
I save it as a jpeg.

It looks like this -

3. You need to get rid of all the bits surrounding your treasury.
I use my photo editing program to crop the image so that just the treasury is showing.
Save again.

4. When you do your blog post you can just upload the image from your files.

5. Bingo, you have a pic of your treasury on your blog!

A new stitch

I like learning new beading techniques but some things just dont seem to work.

For example I have tried working with right-angle stitch, but it is so boring! and hard to get looking right.

Sometimes it just needs the right project to shine a light on things.

And so it was that I found a light in the latest Bead and Button magazine.

A really pretty bracelet design by Cindy Caraway using right-angle weave.

This is right-angle weave.

This is one half of the bracelet.
It is pretty enough to be a little bracelet in it's own right.

But you sew two together and this is what it looks like.

I finished mine with a decorative button from my button stash.

I love it and it was easy!

If you'd like to learn how to make this bracelet go check out Bead and Button magazine October 2009 issue 93.

When you're on to a good thing.....

Sometimes inspiration comes when you least expect it.

Other times you pay a lot of money for it!

I subscribe to four beading magazines - Bead and Button, Beadstyle, Beadwork and Stringing.
Sometimes I buy an Australian beading mag, or dear hub buys me one.

I also have quite a few beading books and I subscribe to Beading Daily, an email newsletter.
As well as buying many kits and patterns over the years.

That's a whole lot of inspiration!

I love this ndebele bracelet pattern by Stephanie Eddy.

So I was in the mood for ndebele stich when I saw ndebele using cube beads in an advertisement in a beading magazine.

I love cube beads!

It worked up so quickly and I love the end result.
It feels great and drapes beautifully around your wrist.

Before I knew it I had made four!

All finished with buttons from my button stash.

Plus a variation on Stephanie Eddy's wave bracelet.

Where do you find inspiration?

Wishlist Wednesday - 20

Being a child of the sixties I'm quite excited by the remastered, rereleased Beatles albums.
Mind you I think I still have some of the originals, although they would be pretty scratched I reckon.

So that got me thinking about Beatles stuff and how I could have the fab four on my wall.

beatles wall decal by walldecors

Or I could carry them with me wherever I go.

rubber sole handbag by rocknrecycle

Or out of sheer curiosity listen to them tell all -

Just need to find a sixties dress and shoes and then I'm all set!
